Davo's Aux Tank - Pictures by Davo
email Davo

This is a Tour Tank - 3.5gal (13l) It is fitted onto a stainless steel bracket that bolts onto the front pillion handle with a longer bolt and onto the handle itself. I put it inside a cheapo bag. It looks big in the picture but its the same width as the seat and will double as a back support when I put a small cushion pad in the front. It also has nice side pockets that I will keep "things" in.

The brass tap is a quarter turn and is easily activated with my left hand by just pulling the lever forward. I plumbed a tee into the section of fuel line between the fuel filter (which I added ages ago) and the main fuel tap. Good quality reinforced fuel line is used. They say it is 3.5gal = 13.3litres but in the real world on the side stand I put 12 litres in and thats about it. When filling I shut off the main tank and run the aux tank until it's empty then just reach down and turn the main tank on. Gravity feeds the fuel from the rear to the main tank if you need to but make sure the main tank is low enough if you do that or it will just overflow, which is why I do it the way I do.

I did this specifically for my 50CC Gold from Brisbane to Fremantle in January 2006, it is easily removed in about 10mins. I have continued to use it for the bigger rides such as when I did Darwin to Port Augusta 2724klms in 23hrs 30th April 2007.
