Ride stories from Davo
I hope you enjoy reading them as much as I did riding them
6370 klms - 3 days 22.5hrs

I have yet to write the report. But I rode from Cooroy Qld to Border Village SA for the 31st Anniversary of the Border Run at Border Village SA/WA border for the 4th of August 2007. I left Cooroy Qld at midnight of the 2nd of August and rode 2233klms to Port Augusta arriving at 10pm, staying there 4 hours and leaving at 2am I rode on to Ceduna SA then continued on to the border arriving at just after noon on the 4th August. Enjoyed the association with fellow riders that afternoon and evening then retired to my tent at 10pm. I left Border Village at 8:45am and rode to Broken Hill arriving at 9:10pm that night. Left Broken Hill at 4:45am and arrived home at 10:30pm on the 6th August 2007. This gave me a total of 6370klms in a total time of 3 days 22.5hrs garage to garage. I wrote this elsewhere online I did a big LD ride just for me and my bike, let me tell you about it and why. Here in Australia there is a little gathering at Border Village called the Border Run. This was the 31st Border Run, for 31 years a bunch of riders have been making the long trek to the middle of nowhere for a few (or more in some cases) drinks and a meal only to head off home at daybreak or before the next day. A LDR ride to eat. Now I went last year, its a 3100klm ride each way at the shortest direct route. This year I planned a different route as practice for another ride I have coming up. So this year I had 6370klms round trip. As 6400k is almost 4000mi I had a few seconds thought about doing a SS3000 + but quickly decided that as this was the last BIG run for Griff my ever faithful and reliable 1000GTR that we would just "do it" Habit and because I want to retain that habit had me collect all required dockets and such for the ride.
Fri: left Cooroy Qld at midnight, arrived Port Augusta SA 22:00 - 2233k in 22hrs I completed 6370klms in 3 days 22.5hrs which included a 20hr period of non riding while enjoying the companionship of fellow riders and catching up on sleep. As you can see here on my online rides list "Coz I Can" It feels good, I have quite a number of IBA rides done or awaiting certs. I did this one for Griff and myself. Sometimes thats all thats needed. This is what a person looks like after riding for 4 days.
