When people can't do something themselves, they wanna tell you that you can't do it. You want something you go get it, period! :: Christopher Gardner The Pursuit of Happyness Life tends to be like that, your hopes and dreams are rarely shared or encouraged by others. Life served up some tough lessons in my early years and from that came a determination and a inner strength that has been with me ever since. I started doing longer rides as recently as 2004, these slowly extended to my first 1000klm day and then eventually my first Iron Butt ride called a SS1600K in early 2005. I progressed up the ladder and was encouraged by many who had ridden the roads before me. Many an hour was spent reading of the Iron Butt Rally riders and their stories never dreaming I could be there one day. Then during my first crossing of Australia in January 2006 I started to think maybe I could, just maybe. Many trips later the 2009 Rally was announced for riders to send in their applications. This I did in late 2007, crossed everything I could and waited. In mid April 2008 while we were on a family trip to West Australia I got the email, I had made the selection, I was an entrant in the 25th anniversay Iron Butt Rally for August 2009. Now the work has really started and this is my story. Don't forget to check on the Blog link up the top thanks, Davo |
