Sponsors and Supporters for the '09 IBR

I would like to thank those who have supported me in this mission, some for over 2 years and some more recently. I have never approached anyone for sponsorship, this has all come from their side wanting to be involved. To all of you I say a heartfelt thanks, it's often said of sponsors that a person could not have done it without them. In my case I would have had to pull out of this ride within weeks of being accepted without the help from these people and companies.

Thanks Geoffrey and to everyone at Mat Mladin Imports, the Joe Rocket gear keeps me comfortable regardless of the weather. The support from Joe Rocket over the past two years has been exceptional.

It was a pleasant surprise to have Dave Milligan contact me and offer a huge discount on shipping my bike ROO over to the US. Dave and wife operate a great service for anyone shipping their bikes overseas, check them out.

At the Kawasaki National Dealers Convention in 2007 I happened to be sitting near John Warrian Australian distributor for Silkolene Oils and other products. John asks did I have Silkolene stickers on my bike, I say "John you don't sponsor me its the Kawasaki Aust. 1400GTR I rode across Australia that has your stickers" He says "well I will sponsor you" It was that easy, what a great guy thanks John.

One of my contacts Mick's Car & Bikes Tyres in Brisbane called me about using Continental Road Attack tyres. These had been something I had wanted to try out so accepted some. Continental supplied the two sets of tyres and Mick fitted them and so far am very pleased with them overall. Although they are unable to supply tyres for the Iron Butt Rally because of logistics of doing it I have now decided to continue to run the Road Attacks because of the good feel and wear, specially the frount maintaining its roundness. Talking to Mat Mladins about gear and it comes up about gloves, how would I like to try out the Tour Master Elite winter glove. Glad to and so far they feel great.

Without the support from Kawasaki Australia my life on the roads during 2007/2008 would have been much harder.

For the upcoming Iron Butt Rally in the US I had to fit an aux fuel tank and relocate the top box. I am very fortunate in having a top class engineering company at my doorstep, many thanks to the excellent work by John and the Speedline team.

I was asked what helmet I would choose if I had to pick, no question it had to be a Shoei Multitec and along came McLeod Acc with one for me. I am very grateful and loving the best helmet I have ever owned, thanks guys.

Mario makes the best, now I am comfortable all day long. LDComfort Shorts saved my butt on the 2724 klm Darwin to Port Augusta in 23hrs ride.

Mike and team at Warm & Safe helped me out with a great deal on their latest heated jacket liner and heat troller. As its warm where I live I am not used to this type of gear but knew I needed it for the Iron Butt Rally. Mike had his go to man Mike Ebers contact me and I went to them while in Portland OR and got it all sorted. Huge thanks guys, I will be warm as toast now.

John Stamnas is the Australian distributor of Goodridge brake parts, more well known for their top line braided brake lines. It so happens John lives and works near me and is a friend so on a recent visit he says "Dave why don't we fit Goodridge lines to your bike" Well why not when they are the best on the market. John also supplies me at a good price Goodridge GH brake pads, top of the line sintered pads by which others are judged, thanks John and team.

John Moorehouse owner of Ergo Motorcycle Seats has a very good reputation for building good seats able to go the distance. John gave me a good deal on mine and it was money well spent, thanks John.

Neil Messervy who is importing the excellent VisionX lighting products into Australia contacted me recently. The end result is I will now be using VisionX HID lights at a very good price which is huge improvement and a comforting feeling on those long dark nights. I will also be testing a pair of LED !! driving lights on my return. Neil can be contacted (web site coming soon) on mob: 0418 257 722 email: neilmesservy@iinet.net.au or mail to PO Box 166, Noosa Heads Qld 4567.

AMHP (Australian Motorcycle Headlight Protectors) designs, manufactures and supplies the best value range of quality headlight protectors throughout Australia and internationally. They supplied at no cost a headlight cover for my bike, thanks guys I really apreciate it.

The US use the old system CB radio unlike our UHF units. Fortunately I had an old set and Dale offered to make up the leads needed so I could run it through my coms unit. He did so at no cost and in quick smart time, thanks a heap Dale for all you have done.

Aaron and Shana Leather owners of Hyperformance Motorcycles, Eumundi Qld. At 2am in the middle of nowhere the last thing I have to think about is a breakdown.

I like my bikes to not only perform well but to look their best while doing the long distances. Looking for a local company who could polish my 1400GTR wheels and along came Chris and Nichole Kennedy of Extreme Precision Finishes. I get a lot of comments on how good it looks now, many thanks Chris & Nichole.

Rod and his wife Myrelle happen to have a shop right next to mine in Cooroy. Their shop is stocked full of gadgets plus a large range of inks for your printers. He has spent hours soldering this or fixing that with my gear, thanks guys.

I enquired about the SuperVisor via email, Peter of Peter's Safety Solutions shot back a reply and said "Man! you sure cover some ground! Just send me your address, and I'll get one up to you". He did better than that and sent the Fogtech and StarBrights also.
